Goings on

Just some things we've been doing-
Last Saturday we went to the Faust Park Carousel for a birthday party. The kids got to ride the carousel as many times as they wanted to for 2 hours - FUN! I thought it was going to be Katherine that wanted to go over and over and over again, but to our surprise, it was Elizabeth who wanted to go over and over and over again! Considering the fact that the last time we were there on Katherine's birthay, Elizabeth screamed from the waiting area the entire time that Katherine rode, it was great that Elizabeth even got on the carousel. She loved it so much that she kept wanted to ride, so she and John rode for at least a half hour straight! Katherine rode for some of that time, but I think she got a little tired of going around in circles. They both enjoyed riding the horses that they named Indian and Pilgrim (Katherine's been learing alot about those in school lately). We even got Christopher on for one ride. FUN!

Katherine finished her soccer season last weekend, also, and got a trophy and a small soccer ball. We've been playing almost daily outside, kicking the soccer ball around. She really had a great time.

The newest thing everyone has been enjoying is playing in the kitchen with utensils while mom fixes whatever meal is appropriate at the time (lunch or dinner). Here is Elizabeth playing her violin and trumpet, respectively. Thanks to Baby Einstien "Meet the Orchestra", the girls love to pretend and know all about LOTS of different instruments - in church a couple of weeks ago, Elizabeth said "Mommy, look at the harp!" and they enjoyed listening to a young girl play.

Family Pictures -

We got these pictures taken last week - Katherine is 5-1/2, Elizabeth is 3 and Christopher is 9 months old. We even got a family picture!

9 month stats

Christopher at 2 days old
How can it be possible that this little baby that I held 9 months ago is this big guy now??!! Christopher had his 9 month appt on Thursday and here are his stats;
26 lbs, 1 oz
31 inches long
That would be "off the charts", the growth charts, that is. He's grown 4 lbs and 3 inches just in the last 3 months. That would explain the pile of clothes in his closet that he's outgrown. He's such a big boy and so much fun! He's started feeing himself at meal time - finger food, that is. That's such a big help to me that he can keep himself happy with food while I'm getting the girls' meals fixed - or mine! He LOVES banging on things and making noise - SUCH A BOY! - and is just a really happy guy, most of the time. He's a joy to have in the house and the girls just love him!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is not my favorite of holidays, but the kids have so much fun! This year we recycled the Eeyore (Christopher) costume and the Tigger (Elizabeth) costume and got Katherine a princess costume. We spent halloween having lots of fun! After I picked Katherine up from school, we went to John's office for some trick-or-treating (man did they got alot of candy in a short amount of time!). After a quick supper at home, we headed off to the Wild West Fall Fest, a night of fun and games and treats for the kids. After we got home from the fall fest, the girls went trick-or-treating on our street for a few more treats. Fun for all - and a hard time settling down for bed!

Long Overdue Update

I'm sorry that it has been so long since I posted an update as to our goings on. After Elizabeth's birthday party, I also threw a party for John's 40th - an adult party. The girls spent the night at Grandma Dana's and Grandpa Ken's house (Julie's parents) and Christopher went to bed early, so it was just grown-ups - VERY FUN! It had been a very long time since we had had or gone to a party with no children. As one person put it, it was nice to have a party without an Elmo, Thomas, or Dora theme!
Happy Birthday, John!
Last Sunday, John took Katherine (with his parents) to a local pumpkin farm while the little ones were sleeping. She had fun on the slides, on the train, and on this big tire swing. It was an unusually warm day. When she came home, she was really warm, I thought from the sun, but come to find out she had a fever.....

That started our week of sickness. All three kids were sick last week with fevers, croup, and cold symptoms. We are finally over the worst of it and all that remains is coughs. It will be a minor miracle if I don't get sick, but so far so good!

Christopher's favorite toys these days are anything with buttons - not the phone in one hand and the remote control in the other!

Christmas in October...

Yesterday was "Crazy Hat Day" at Katherine's school. We don't have alot of hats in our house, so I gave her a choice - baseball hat, stocking hat.. what else? It came to me - Santa hat! She LOVED the idea, so I found the santa hat in our basement and she wore that to school - FUN! And she also made a crazy hat at school (see picture). Nothing like wearing a santa hat when it's 90 degrees outside! Speaking of that, we've had enough of summer - bring on the snow!!! I'm sure I'll regret saying that. Anyway, she had a great time and had fun seeing what other hats her friends wore - cowboy hat, crown, Cardinals hat, etc.
