Outside Play

It's been a lovely stretch of weather here in July - 80's and low humidity for the past several days! We took advantage and got outside in the backyard. Christopher loves our swing and the girls were playing t-ball and taking turns quite nicely, I might add! Not always the case, but this particular day was a good one. Enjoy the pictures. :)

Sleepover

The girls had a "sleepover" this morning in the living room - sleeping bags and all. A fun morning activity when it was pretty hot outside. They thought it up all by themselves! They have been playing very nicely together (for the most part) the past few days, which is especially nice since Christopher's been fussy and not napping well. He cut his first tooth on Monday and may be working on another one. I went out this morning to get some more Tylenol for him. Hopefully that will help.

Bedtime games

Katherine (5) and Elizabeth (2), who share a room, have been up very late the past couple of weeks. We put them to bed around 8:00 and they haven't been going to sleep until close to 10:00 on most nights, or even later. What are they doing up there? Well, we have the monitor on so we do hear what they are doing. They aren't roughousing or being crazy. They, for the most part, stay in their respective beds and have made up games that they play. The most recent are "who's birthday is it" where they sing Happy Birthday to each of the stuffed animals/dolls in their beds and "Campsite" where they use the books that they have to make tents for their animals and dolls. While we wish they would go to sleep earlier, they are sleeping later in the morning which is nice for me and it is fun to listen to thier conversations. I know they are forming a nice friendship and hope that the sisterly bond lasts a lifetime.

Mealtime Marathon

Meal times at our house right now last FOREVER. I've figured from the time I start nursing/bottle-feeding Christopher to the time everyone (including myself) is done eating is most often an hour, at least. I feed Christopher, then get the meal (be it breakfast, lunch or dinner) served up, then while everyone eats I feed Christopher his meal (rice cereal and veggies or fruits), then I get to eat - then I have to clean everything up! I remember this stage with my girls - it just takes forever when there the bottle or nursing and the cereal. I know I shouldn't wish time away, but I'm already looking forward to the time when Christopher can feed himself. On one hand I miss the little baby days and on the other hand I'm wanting him to grow up - I can't decide! I know I need to enjoy each stage as it comes, but meals are just such a huge production!

A Hot Day at the Science Center

Yesterday we spent the morning at the St. Louis Science Center. It was a high temp o 96 degrees and VERY humid, so we decided to head indoors. An added bonus was that when John got to work, he found out that his building was closing for the day due to a water main break and no A/C, so he got to go with us! At the Science Center, there's a Discovery Room with lots of hands on activities for the kids - here's a few pictures!

Goings on

Summer is flying by here and I can't believe that the public elementary schools here in St. Charles one on Thursday - they go year round! Anyway, several more weeks before Katherine starts kindergarten (thank goodness), but the summer is going by so fast. Life is just busy. I found Christopher rolled over on his tummy in his bed twice yesterday - he doesn't like it, though! His favorite activites are his exersaucer and his highchair, as he's eating rice cereal now and has tried sweet potatoes and peas. YUM!

he's going to be driving before I know it!!!

they are growing up!!!

4th of July

are these cute dresses, or what???
already getting so big!
Happy 4th of July! As I write this, fireworks are going off all around our neighborhood. Yes, they are legal here in St. Charles County, so we really don't even need to go far for a show. Nonetheless, last night (the 3rd), John took Katherine to her first (I think) fireworks show in person. They had a great time on the St. Charles riverfront and some great daddy/daughter time. It was a late night for Katherine, but she had a great time. Then today we had breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa Bauer at IHOP and then some great family time at SuperWalMart (the only way I can go with 3 kids is if John goes with me!) and time in the backyard pool this afternoon. A fun and tiring 24 hours (so fun that Katherine didn't want to go to bed tonight even though she was exhausted). Here are some pictures of the kids, including Christopher's 5-month photo.
